Bills Receive Encouraging Update on Potential $70 Million Trade Target
The Buffalo Bills may be inching closer to landing a true No. 1 wide receiver, with recent developments surrounding Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin offering a potential opportunity.
After moving on from Stefon Diggs, Buffalo entered the 2024 season without a clear top wideout, instead opting for a balanced “everyone eats” offensive approach. While the strategy paid off—leading to one of the league’s most productive passing attacks—many around the league believe the Bills are still in the market for a marquee receiver.
Terry McLaurin, a Pro Bowl wideout and consistent 1,000-yard performer for Washington, has been at the center of trade speculation. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, McLaurin is reportedly frustrated with ongoing contract negotiations and dissatisfied with the lack of progress on an extension. With just one year remaining on his $70 million deal, McLaurin is said to be eyeing a deadline and could skip training camp if a deal isn’t reached soon.

This standoff could prompt Washington to consider trade options, and the Bills are viewed as a leading candidate to make a move. Bleacher Report’s Mitchel Milani believes McLaurin would be a perfect fit in Buffalo’s offense, especially with his proven ability to stretch the field and perform despite playing with a revolving door of quarterbacks.
“He’s a downfield threat who would make Josh Allen and the Bills offense nearly unstoppable,” Milani stated.
Should McLaurin officially become available, Buffalo could pounce—possibly securing the kind of elite playmaker they’ve been missing since Diggs’ departure.
