BREAKING: New Weapon big announcement Sophomore Forward picks Kentucky in Major Recruiting Boost
College basketball recruiting is heating up, and one name rapidly climbing the radar is Robert Morris standout DeSean Gooe. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound sophomore forward has emerged as one of the most efficient and versatile frontcourt players available, making him a highly sought-after target as top programs look to strengthen their rosters.
Now, momentum is building around the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball, as Gooe is set to take an official visit to Lexington a move that could signal a major step forward in his recruitment.

Under head coach Mark Pope, Kentucky has prioritized size, efficiency, and versatility in the frontcourt, and Gooe checks all the boxes. During the 2025–26 season, he delivered impressive numbers, averaging 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and over 30 minutes per game. His efficiency has been eye-catching, shooting over 60 percent from the field, an outstanding 57.1 percent from three-point range, and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Gooe’s dominance didn’t go unnoticed. He earned Horizon League Player of the Year honors and previously secured a spot on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team during his earlier stint at IU Indy before transferring to Robert Morris Colonials men’s basketball.
His standout performances include a 26-point explosion against Milwaukee and a commanding 14-rebound game versus Northern Kentucky, showcasing his ability to impact both ends of the floor.
Before college, Gooe built his foundation at Fairmont Senior High School in West Virginia and refined his game with a postgraduate year at Fork Union Military Academy experiences that helped shape his physicality and discipline.

Now entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, Gooe is viewed by analysts as a modern forward capable of scoring efficiently inside, stretching the floor, and dominating the boards. His upcoming visit to Kentucky will give both sides a crucial opportunity to evaluate fit, role, and long-term potential.
With the Wildcats continuing to build momentum on the recruiting trail, Gooe’s visit could prove to be a pivotal moment one that might bring a powerful new weapon to Lexington.
