MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State Wildcats are continuing to strengthen their football program as head coach Collin Klein and his staff push forward with another important phase of roster building ahead of the 2026 season.

Kansas State entered the 2026 campaign after an aggressive offseason that saw the program bring in a large group of new players. The Wildcats signed 27 transfers in January, while five additional high-school players were added in February, bringing the 2026 recruiting class to 26 and the total number of new players on the roster to 53.

Now, the Wildcats are reportedly turning their attention to two additional team-building additions, with the goal of adding more depth, competition and experience to the roster.

The timing is particularly significant. Kansas State is already deep into preseason camp, and Klein recently discussed the possibility of players becoming eligible following a recent injunction. He acknowledged that the program had been examining opportunities to potentially add players.

The reported additions would give Kansas State another opportunity to improve areas of need before the regular season begins.

Rather than simply adding bodies, the Wildcats are looking for players capable of competing immediately and pushing existing starters and backups for playing time.

That approach fits the direction Klein has established since taking over. The program has emphasized roster construction, player development and competition throughout the offseason.

K-State’s current 2026 roster already features numerous newcomers, including transfers such as safety Koy Beasley, defensive end Wendell Gregory, wide receiver Izaiah Williams and safety Adrian Maddox.

Klein’s New Era Taking Shape

Klein’s first offseason as Kansas State’s head coach has been centered on building the program from the ground up.

In June, Klein described the process as a series of important steps, from building his coaching staff and attacking the transfer portal to completing winter workouts and spring practices. He also said the program had hosted more than 70 families during its official-visit and camp cycles.

That continued roster-building mentality could make these two reported additions particularly interesting for Wildcats fans.

Kansas State already has several players receiving preseason recognition. Defensive end Wendell Gregory and offensive lineman John Pastore were both named to the 2026 Preseason All-Big 12 team.
