4-Star Wide Receiver Tyler Fryman Commits to Kentucky, Chooses Wildcats Over Notre Dame and Louisville
The Kentucky Wildcats received a major boost to their future recruiting efforts after securing a commitment from highly regarded four-star wide receiver Tyler Fryman for their 2027 recruiting class.

Fryman, one of the top high school football prospects in Kentucky, announced his decision on Friday, according to On3 recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett. The Fort Mitchell native elected to stay in his home state, committing to the Wildcats despite receiving strong interest from Notre Dame, Louisville, and Cincinnati.
His commitment is viewed as a significant recruiting victory for first-year head coach Will Stein, who continues laying the foundation for Kentucky’s future. Landing one of the state’s premier playmakers demonstrates the program’s ability to compete with nationally recognized schools for elite talent.
According to 247Sports, Fryman carries a four-star rating and an overall score of 90. He is currently ranked as the No. 4 prospect in Kentucky, the 31st-ranked wide receiver nationally, and the 203rd overall player in the 2027 recruiting class. His composite rating of 0.9229 places him even higher in several national rankings, where he sits as the third-best player in Kentucky, the 30th-best receiver in the country, and the 210th overall recruit.
Fryman earned widespread attention following an outstanding junior campaign at the high school level. He hauled in 45 receptions for 1,023 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging more than 22 yards per catch. His offensive production wasn’t limited to receiving, however, as he also rushed 17 times for 277 yards and three touchdowns, highlighting his versatility as an all-around offensive weapon capable of making explosive plays in multiple ways.
Kentucky Builds for the Future
Although Fryman will not arrive on campus until 2027, Kentucky’s coaching staff is excited about his long-term potential. His speed, athleticism, route-running ability, and versatility make him a valuable addition to the Wildcats’ future receiving corps.
Meanwhile, Kentucky enters a new era under Will Stein, who officially took over the program following the departure of longtime head coach Mark Stoops after the 2025 season.
Stoops concluded a remarkable 13-year tenure as Kentucky’s all-time winningest football coach, compiling an overall record of 82–80. However, the Wildcats struggled during his final two seasons, missing bowl eligibility both years. Kentucky finished the 2025 campaign with a disappointing 5–7 overall record, including 2–6 in SEC play, placing 11th in the conference standings.
Stein now faces the challenge of restoring Kentucky’s competitiveness in one of college football’s toughest conferences. Although this marks his first opportunity as a head coach, he arrives in Lexington with an impressive offensive résumé. Before joining Kentucky, Stein served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oregon, where he helped guide one of the nation’s most explosive offenses and contributed to the Ducks’ appearances in the College Football Playoff from 2023 through 2025.
As Kentucky looks toward a new chapter, Fryman’s commitment represents an important piece of the program’s long-term vision. Keeping one of the state’s top prospects at home provides momentum on the recruiting trail and gives Wildcats fans optimism that Stein is building a foundation capable of competing for future success in the SEC.
