Bills Acquire $36M Receiver Seen as Perfect Match to Boost Josh Allen

Joshua Palmer has inked a three-year, $36 million contract with the Buffalo Bills and is already showing promise as a valuable addition to their offensive system.

Even before the offseason kicked off, the Bills were considered serious Super Bowl contenders, having reached the AFC Championship despite lacking a true No. 1 wide receiver. To fix that gap, the team made several strategic additions.

They brought in a range of wideouts—including Elijah Moore and Laviska Shenault—but their most significant move came with Palmer’s signing from the Los Angeles Chargers.

Palmer, known for his reliability and versatility, has impressed early in Buffalo. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady praised him, saying, “He’s been a seamless fit in our room. He can line up anywhere—inside or outside—and was a great acquisition.”

Over four seasons with the Chargers, Palmer totaled 182 receptions for 2,287 yards and 10 touchdowns, with over 500 receiving yards in each of his last three campaigns.

Though Palmer may not be a true WR1, that’s not necessarily an issue for Buffalo. The team’s focus has shifted to building a well-rounded group of receivers. With young talent like Keon Coleman and steady contributor Khalil Shakir, Palmer helps form a solid trio, especially with MVP quarterback Josh Allen leading the offense.

Rather than chase a marquee All-Pro receiver, the Bills have committed to a team-first approach at the position. Whether that strategy—and Palmer’s presence—can elevate Allen to a Super Bowl remains to be seen.
