The Baltimore Orioles have re-acquired right-handed reliever Scott Blewett in a trade with the Atlanta Braves, sending cash considerations in return, as reported by MLB Trade Rumors.

Atlanta made Blewett available after designating him for assignment to clear a roster spot for franchise icon Craig Kimbrel, who was recently called back up to the majors.

This marks Blewett’s second stint with Baltimore in 2025. The Orioles initially picked him up after the Minnesota Twins placed him on waivers, but designated him for assignment shortly after. In his brief time with the Orioles earlier this season, Blewett pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings across two appearances.

His numbers with the Twins were similar—he threw 4 2/3 innings and allowed just one earned run. After his short run in Baltimore, Blewett found a more extended role in Atlanta, where he appeared in 11 games, posting a 5.51 ERA before being traded back to the Orioles.

Now in his fourth major league season, Blewett has made a career-high 15 appearances this year across three teams. Though he’s out of minor league options, teams continue to express interest in his services whenever he becomes available.

While his fastball velocity this season is below league average at 93.4 mph, Blewett remains effective in key areas. He ranks in the 90th percentile for swing-and-miss rate and 91st percentile in groundball rate, suggesting strong underlying performance despite the surface-level stats.

Blewett has yet to secure a consistent role on a single team this year, but with Baltimore’s bullpen facing struggles, this return may provide the 28-year-old with a much-needed opportunity to establish himself at the major league level.
