Proposed One-for-One Deal Sends Jordan Kyrou to the Rangers
The New York Rangers are expected to pursue offensive reinforcements this offseason, and a bold trade proposal envisions them landing a dynamic forward in a straight-up exchange.
Using PuckPedia’s PuckGM simulation tool, one user submitted a hypothetical trade where the Rangers would acquire St. Louis Blues winger Jordan Kyrou in exchange for defenseman K’Andre Miller.
Trade Proposal:
To Rangers: Jordan Kyrou
To Blues: K’Andre Miller
This move would be a headline-making swap, with both teams trading young, high-impact players who could fill immediate needs. For New York, Kyrou would bolster the top six and help address scoring issues. The 27-year-old is entering the third year of his eight-year, $65 million contract and is coming off a season with 36 goals and 34 assists (70 points) in 82 games.
The Blues, on the other hand, would land 25-year-old Miller, a skilled, mobile defenseman who could slot into their top-four and be part of their long-term plans on the blue line. Miller, a pending restricted free agent, had a quieter 2024-25 campaign with 7 goals and 20 assists over 74 games, but his ceiling remains high. His next contract will likely require a raise from the $3.872 million he made last season.
Rangers Listening to Offers on Miller
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently reported that the Rangers are actively exploring the trade market for Miller, though a deal isn’t guaranteed. On the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman said, “It’s not a guarantee, but they are testing the market on Miller. They want to know what it is.”
Fellow insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff echoed that sentiment, listing Miller as the 10th-most likely trade candidate of the offseason. He noted that Rangers GM Chris Drury is reevaluating the team’s defensive core, especially as their struggles in front of star goalie Igor Shesterkin have persisted across multiple coaching regimes.

“Miller is just 25 and an elite skater, so in theory he should be part of the solution,” Seravalli wrote. “But his next deal will have to cover some of his UFA years, and that won’t come cheap.”
Miller was originally drafted 22nd overall by the Rangers in the 2018 NHL Draft.
High Hopes Under New Head Coach
After missing the playoffs, the Rangers parted ways with head coach Peter Laviolette and brought in Mike Sullivan, who previously led the Pittsburgh Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 2016 and 2017.
Sullivan spoke optimistically about the Rangers’ future and the challenge ahead.
“I know there’s a lot of talent in the dressing room,” Sullivan said. “But talent alone doesn’t win championships—teams do. From Day 1, our mission will be to become a true team.”
The Rangers finished the 2024-25 season with a 39-36-7 record, and expectations will be much higher under their new leadership. A trade like this could signal a major shift in strategy—and help put them back in the playoff picture.
