JUST IN: Bills give major update regarding Jordan Poyer return

Former All-Pro Eyes Buffalo Return Amid Uncertain Future

Despite a challenging season with the Miami Dolphins, veteran safety Jordan Poyer is hoping for one last opportunity to finish his career where he made his mark—with the Buffalo Bills.

After early struggles in his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns, Poyer’s fortunes changed when he joined the Bills. Under head coach Sean McDermott, he developed into one of the league’s top safeties and earned All-Pro honors during his standout tenure in Buffalo.

Following seven seasons in Western New York, Poyer was released and signed with the Dolphins in 2024. Now at 34 and no longer with Miami, he’s making it clear he wants to return to the team where he rose to prominence.

“It was a tough year—transitioning from Buffalo to Miami, different cultures, different systems. It just didn’t go how anyone expected,” Poyer recently said. “Still, I’m grateful for everything—every moment, every friendship. Do I want to play again? Absolutely. Ideally, retiring as a Bill would be a dream ending. But who knows?”

Despite notching 98 tackles and defending three passes last season, Poyer struggled in coverage—a concerning trend for an aging safety. The Bills, meanwhile, are leaning toward a youth movement in the secondary, with Taylor Rapp and rookie Cole Bishop competing for roles.

While Poyer remains hopeful for a Buffalo reunion, the team’s current roster strategy may leave little room for a veteran presence like his. His legacy with the Bills is secure—but whether he gets a final chapter in blue and red remains to be seen.
