JUST IN: Ground Breaking Announcement regarding Blues Nick Leddy’s Injury

Nick Leddy’s Return Fails to Spark Blues When It Counted Most

The St. Louis Blues welcomed back veteran defenseman Nick Leddy late in the 2024-25 regular season, hoping his presence would bolster their blue line for a playoff push. However, his impact proved minimal when it mattered most.

After suffering a lower-body injury on October 22, Leddy missed 49 games and returned to the lineup on February 4. He suited up for the remainder of the regular season and into the postseason, but his contributions were underwhelming.

The Blues had initially expected Leddy to slot in alongside newly acquired Philip Broberg on the second defensive pairing, but he spent most of his time paired with Cam Fowler. The duo logged 217 minutes together with an expected goals for (xGF) of 7.3.

Statistically, Leddy’s output was limited—two goals and three assists across 31 games. More concerning were his 43 giveaways, surpassing his total from the previous full season despite playing fewer games.

In the Blues’ first-round, seven-game series against Winnipeg, Leddy averaged 14:11 of ice time and recorded a lone assist. His defensive play was serviceable but far from game-changing—much like the rest of the Blues’ defensive unit.

Looking ahead to the 2025-26 season, Leddy’s role remains uncertain. The 34-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and could be a trade deadline asset if not moved earlier. With Torey Krug and Ryan Suter likely on their way out, the Blues may need to hang onto Leddy temporarily—unless a more reliable replacement emerges.
