Kansas State’s Recruiting Shockwave: Hutcherson and Alexander Land in Manhattan
Kansas State basketball has struck a major blow in the 2026 recruiting cycle, landing two high-profile flips from Belmont over the same week. Point guard Devin Hutcherson kicked off the wave last Friday, followed by 6’2”, 175-pound guard Jaylen Alexander from Oxford, Alabama, who flipped his commitment from Belmont to the Wildcats on Saturday. Both players will now join head coach Casey Alexander (no known relation) in Manhattan, injecting star power into the program’s incoming class.
Alexander, the crown jewel of Belmont’s 2026 class, was slated to be the program’s highest-rated recruit ever. A high three-star prospect, he ranked among the top five players and top point guard in Alabama, while also placing in the top 200 nationally. Before initially committing to Belmont, he had offers from Auburn and mid-major programs such as UAB, Murray State, Kennesaw State, New Mexico State, and ETSU.

Hutcherson, the first of the Belmont defectors, adds depth and versatility to the backcourt, and together with Alexander, the Wildcats are building a 2026 class that could reshape the team’s future. The pair’s commitment signals that Kansas State is becoming a landing spot for elite talent, turning heads in the recruiting world and giving fans plenty to be excited about.
