Keaton Wallace Re-Signs with Hawks After Record-Setting Season, Secures Final Two-Way Spot Amid Roster Shakeup

The Atlanta Hawks have officially re-signed guard Keaton Wallace, filling their last two-way roster spot. The team made the announcement on Friday, marking Wallace’s return after a breakthrough 2024–25 season.

Wallace joined Atlanta midseason and made an immediate impact, especially during the team’s NBA Cup run. One of his defining moments came in a key victory over the Boston Celtics, where he stepped in for the injured Trae Young and delivered a clutch performance.

Wallace Shines in Versatile Role and Makes Hawks History

At 6-foot-3, Wallace played in 31 games (starting five) during the season. Though he averaged 5.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game overall, his numbers surged when he started: 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.

His breakout performance came on April 13 against the Orlando Magic, when he recorded his first career triple-double — 15 points, 15 assists, 11 rebounds, and five steals. This stat line etched his name into Hawks history as the first player to ever post 15+ points, 15+ assists, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ steals in a single game.

A Relentless Finish to the Season

Wallace’s work ethic stood out late in the season. Over four consecutive days, he played in four games split between the Hawks and their G-League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. In that stretch, he logged over 86 minutes of court time and traveled more than 2,200 miles, demonstrating exceptional endurance and adaptability. His versatility and drive likely played a key role in securing his new contract.

Atlanta Prioritizes Youth in Roster Overhaul

The Hawks are undergoing major changes as they reshape their roster ahead of the new season. While some veterans remain — including Trae Young, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jalen Johnson — much of the roster now features young or recently acquired players.

Wallace will share two-way duties with Eli N’diaye and Jacob Toppin, offering the team flexibility across the NBA and G-League. Meanwhile, key offseason additions include Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dyson Daniels, and top rookie Zaccharie Risacher.

Veteran departures such as Clint Capela (to Houston), Caris LeVert (to Detroit), and Larry Nance Jr. (to Cleveland) signal a commitment to youth development. As Atlanta enters what appears to be a rebuilding or retooling phase, Wallace’s re-signing symbolizes the franchise’s belief in his potential and the larger vision of building around young, dynamic talent.
