The Philadelphia Phillies appear likely to lose starting pitcher Ranger Suárez to free agency this offseason. While Philadelphia’s rotation is already stacked with star talentmeaning Suárez’s departure wouldn’t be devastatingthe left-hander could be an ideal fit for several contenders. With Dylan Cease reportedly heading to the Toronto Blue Jays, Suárez is now one of the top remaining pitchers on the market, which should significantly boost his free-agent value.

Ryan Finkelstein of Just Baseball recently predicted that Suárez could land a five-year, $110 million contract with the Detroit Tigers.
“As far as a destination goes, Suárez should draw interest from plenty of teams, but Detroit makes a lot of sense,” Finkelstein wrote. “The Tigers need a strong No. 2 starter behind Tarik Skubal for 2026. And if Skubal leaves or is traded, Suárez gives them a reliable top-of-the-rotation arm at a more affordable price than Skubal.”

A signing like this could be a major boost for Detroit, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Skubal’s future. Suárez wouldn’t match the dominance of the reigning Cy Young winner, but he’d provide steady, high-level production. And if the Tigers can land him for around $110 million, the contract would leave enough financial flexibility to pursue a big bat for their lineup as well.
