Rangers Pitcher Grateful After Receiving Surprise All-Star Bonus Despite Snub
Although he wasn’t selected for the 2025 All-Star Game, a veteran starter for the Texas Rangers still received a $100,000 All-Star bonus — a gesture that has drawn admiration across the league.
The organization’s decision to honor the pitcher with the bonus, despite his omission from the American League roster, was acknowledged with gratitude. In a social media post by a Dallas Morning News reporter, the pitcher expressed his appreciation, saying he felt deeply honored to be recognized in such a way by the team.
He described himself as “very thankful” for receiving the bonus, emphasizing how much the recognition meant even without the official All-Star title.
The sentiment is well-earned. Before the All-Star break, the right-hander delivered a stellar first half of the season, compiling a 7-3 record, a 1.58 ERA, 94 strikeouts, and only 14 walks over 91 innings across 16 starts. His performance placed him among the league’s most dominant pitchers during that span.
Beyond the impressive stats, his leadership and stability have been crucial to a pitching staff that has dealt with numerous injuries. His experience and calm demeanor have played a key role in keeping the team competitive as they push for the postseason.
Now sitting at 51-50, the Rangers have surged lately, winning seven of their last ten games. They remain in striking distance of both a Wild Card spot and the division lead, trailing the top-ranked team by 7.5 games and sitting just 2.5 games behind the second-place contender.
The decision to reward the veteran pitcher speaks volumes about his value to the club — not just for his on-field excellence, but for the leadership and consistency he brings to a team chasing playoff dreams.
