Buffalo Bills Rookie’s Future in Jeopardy Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
The Buffalo Bills enter another offseason filled with disappointment after falling short of their championship aspirations — a common theme in the Josh Allen era. However, while preparing for the 2025 campaign, troubling news has surfaced that could derail the career of one of their most promising new additions.
Maxwell Hairston, the Bills’ 2025 first-round draft pick, is facing serious allegations that could put his professional future in jeopardy.
A civil lawsuit filed this week in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky accuses Hairston of sexually assaulting a woman in 2021 while he was a freshman at the University of Kentucky. The plaintiff, Rebecca Hendryx, claims the incident took place in her dorm room, where Hairston allegedly made her feel unsafe and attempted to isolate her before she ultimately left.

The legal action, brought forth by Bryant Law Center and Meyers & Flowers, asserts that Hairston engaged in non-consensual sexual contact during that encounter. While law enforcement was notified and the woman later transferred schools, Hairston was never criminally charged.
Despite the serious nature of the claims, the Buffalo Bills were reportedly aware of the situation prior to the draft. General Manager Brandon Beane has stated the matter was thoroughly investigated. He also confirmed that Hairston took a polygraph test, and the organization reviewed detailed notes regarding the incident.
Hairston, who played in 32 collegiate games, tallied 89 tackles, 10 pass deflections, 6 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. He was expected to be a key part of the Bills’ defense heading into training camp later this month.
The organization has acknowledged the situation and is currently handling it internally, according to WYRK.
As the legal process unfolds, it remains to be seen how it will impact Hairston’s future with the team — or in the NFL at all.
