JUST IN: Former Alabama High School Standout, Auburn Defensive Tackle Returns To The Buffalo Bills As A New Head.

Marcus Harris, a former standout at Park Crossing High School in Montgomery and Auburn defensive tackle, is back in the NFL after signing with the Buffalo Bills on Friday.

Harris had been a free agent since April 28, when the New England Patriots released him two days after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft.

This marks Harris’ third stop in the NFL.

He was originally taken by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2024 draft. Although he didn’t make Houston’s active roster, he remained on their practice squad until his release on Oct. 9.

Shortly after, Harris was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad, where he spent the rest of the season. He re-signed with New England on Jan. 6, 2025, but was waived in late April.

Harris did not appear in any regular-season games during his rookie year. To make room for him, the Bills released undrafted rookie defensive tackle Devin Brandt-Epps.

Harris joins a restructured defensive line in Buffalo. The team returns starters DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver but added draft picks T.J. Sanders (South Carolina) and Deone Walker (Kentucky), along with veteran Larry Ogunjobi, a seven-year NFL player, in free agency.

The Bills have three practices left in their offseason program — a mandatory minicamp from Tuesday to Thursday — before breaking until training camp opens in late July at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.

Harris began his collegiate career at Kansas, playing two seasons before transferring to Auburn, where he played from 2021 through 2023.
