Report: Only Three Rangers Players Considered Untouchable in Trade Talks
Nearly everyone on the New York Rangers roster is reportedly available for trade—with just three exceptions. According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the only players deemed untouchable are goaltender Igor Shesterkin, winger Artemi Panarin, and defenseman Adam Fox.
The Rangers are also rumored to be targeting defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov when free agency begins on July 1. Both Shesterkin and Fox are signed for several more seasons, while Panarin is set to hit unrestricted free agency in 2026.

Staple also notes that the Rangers, along with the Buffalo Sabres, Utah Mammoth, and Seattle Kraken, are expected to make significant roster changes soon. Rangers president and GM Chris Drury reportedly sent a league-wide notice earlier in the 2024–25 season signaling his intent to shake things up.
Following their playoff miss, the Rangers have already made a coaching change, and several players—like Chris Kreider and K’Andre Miller—have been mentioned in trade rumors. Whether these rumblings result in real moves remains to be seen.
