Breaking: Ex-Bills WR Stefon Diggs in Hot Water After Controversial Video Surfaces

Former Bills Star Stefon Diggs Faces Scrutiny Over Controversial Video

Stefon Diggs, former Buffalo Bills wide receiver now with the New England Patriots, is under fire after a controversial video made waves online—drawing attention for the wrong reasons.

After leaving the Houston Texans and signing with New England to be a key target for rookie quarterback Drake Maye, Diggs is making headlines not for his play, but for an off-field incident. He skipped the Patriots’ first voluntary organized team activity (OTA) on Wednesday, May 28, just as a video emerged showing him on a boat, flashing an unidentified pink substance while surrounded by several women.

The clip quickly spread across social media, prompting questions at Patriots practice. Head coach Mike Vrabel, who fielded six media questions about Diggs, confirmed the team was aware of the situation and had been in communication with the receiver.

“We want to make smart choices on and off the field,” Vrabel said. “Any conversations I’ve had with Stefon will stay between us and the organization.”

It remains unclear whether Diggs will face disciplinary action from the team or the NFL. The substance in question has not been publicly identified.

This incident adds to a pattern of drama surrounding Diggs, particularly during the final stretch of his time with the Bills. Tensions began with a public sideline argument with quarterback Josh Allen during a playoff loss to the Bengals, followed by a summer of vague social media messages and a conflict with coaches during mandatory minicamp, which led to head coach Sean McDermott sending him home. Although Diggs managed to avoid further controversy that season, his performance declined late in the year, and he was traded in March 2024 amid Buffalo’s efforts to trim salary cap expenses.

Injury Comeback Still in Progress

Diggs is also rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered nearly seven months ago. CBS Sports’ Shanna McCarriston reported that he participated in some OTA drills, a promising sign for Patriots fans. While his full recovery timeline is still uncertain, his presence is seen as a positive influence for New England’s young offense.

“There’s no guarantee Diggs will be ready for the Patriots’ Week 1 matchup against the Raiders,” McCarriston noted, “but even having him in the locker room could provide valuable leadership.”
