NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues Considering Re-Signing Center Radek Faksa
Welcome to another edition of NHL Rumors! While the Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing with the Eastern Conference Final underway and the Western Final starting soon, teams outside the final four are already planning for the offseason. Today’s focus is on the St. Louis Blues, who are reportedly interested in retaining one of their upcoming unrestricted free agents.
Blues Eyeing a Return for Faksa
Rumor: St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong is reportedly interested in re-signing center Radek Faksa. Although there’s mutual interest, Armstrong has indicated he’ll wait for the offseason to fully wrap up before initiating contract discussions.

Faksa’s Role with the Blues
Faksa was acquired by the Blues last offseason to add depth during a transitional phase that saw the team incorporate more youth. Over time, he became a regular fixture on a line with Nathan Walker and Alexey Toropchenko — a trio dubbed the “WTF” line. The group proved to be one of the most reliable combinations throughout the season and tallied six goals in seven playoff games. Faksa, now 31, posted 15 points and boasted a personal best 57% win rate in the faceoff circle.
Given his consistent play and faceoff prowess, it’s easy to understand why the Blues would want him back.
Is There Room for Faksa on the Roster?
Faksa appears to still have a spot, both in the lineup and within the team’s salary cap situation. With defenseman Torey Krug likely to remain on long-term injured reserve, the Blues could gain some cap flexibility, even though Krug will continue to receive his salary.
Despite the push to add more young talent — including Dylan Holloway’s expected return — Faksa could continue anchoring the fourth line alongside Walker and Toropchenko.
Projected Line Combinations (with Faksa)
- Buchnevich – Thomas – Neighbours
- Holloway – Schenn – Kyrou
- Snuggerud – Sundqvist – Bolduc
- Walker – Faksa – Toropchenko
Timing Is on Their Side
With free agency not opening until July 1, the Blues still have time to negotiate a deal with Faksa before he hits the open market. While he likely won’t command a major contract as a bottom-six forward, there’s always a risk another team could offer more than the Blues are willing to spend — especially if they plan to pursue players like Sam Bennett, which would require a bigger financial commitment.
For now, fans can be reassured that Doug Armstrong is in control and has a track record of making smart roster moves. Time will tell whether Faksa remains part of the Blues’ plans moving forward.
